Lot 2021 STEPHEN BILLEB CUSTOM U.S. MODEL OF 1917

.338-300 WIN L.N. BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 338-300 Win L.N. S# 932690. Bbl. 24". Originally mfg. as a Model of 1917 bolt action rifle by Eddystone, this example was subsequently reworked and customized by Stephen L. Billeb (October 13, 1936 - April 14, 2023), whom was a founding member of the ACGG (American Custom Gunmakers Guild) in 1983, where served as president and director until 2012. The left side of the tapered rnd. bbl. is marked "338-300 WIN. L.N. towards the breech, with "U.S./ MODEL OF 1917/ EDDYSTONE" and the S# marked over the top of the chamber. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt body, which is polished in-the-white. ebony tipped 1-piece figured French walnut pistol grip stock features borderless fleur-de-lis checkering on the forearm and wrist, custom hinged floorplate, a blued steel grip cap, cheek piece, as well as a Pachmayr Old English red rubber recoil pad. Toeline of stock is inletted with a sling swivel stud, with the underside of the bbl. featuring an integral sling swivel stud. Receiver is drilled and tapped with a 1-piece Redfield scope base and 2-piece scope mounts, featuring a Weatherby Variable 2 3/4x-10x scope. Receiver features a Kanjar trigger and a grooved trigger shoe, with a tang mounted sliding safety. CONDITION: metal components retain virtually all of their professionally applied blue finish, exhibiting few light superficial handling marks overall. Mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Stock shows a few light marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains excellent overall.
